A drive is only as good as its base. Here is how we build each one, layer by layer.

Block paving

Hard-wearing interlocking blocks laid on a compacted base. A damaged block lifts out and replaces on its own, so the drive ages well.

Typical lifespan 20 to 25 years

What neighbours say.

“They dug out far deeper than the last firm quoted for, and showed us why. Two winters on, not a single block has moved.”

Priya Raman, block paving in Harpenden

“Fixed price, finished on the day they said, and the road was swept cleaner than they found it.”

Gareth Lloyd, tarmac in St Albans

“Our resin drive actually drains now. No more puddle by the front door.”

Can't see your question? Call us and you'll speak to the person who lays your drive.

Do I need planning permission for a new driveway?

Usually not. A front drive over 5m² only needs permission if the surface is impermeable and drains onto the road. Permeable options such as resin bound, permeable block paving and gravel avoid this. A dropped kerb is a separate council application, and we can help with it.

How long does a driveway take to lay?

Most drives take three to five working days. Larger or more complex jobs, such as steps or new drainage, can take longer. Your written quote states the expected timeline.

Can I park on it straight away?

Block paving and gravel can be driven on the same day. Tarmac needs about 24 hours, resin bound 24 to 48 hours, and imprinted concrete around seven days.

Do you take a deposit?

We never ask for payment before work starts. Materials are paid for on delivery to site, and the balance once you have inspected the finished drive with us.

What does the guarantee cover?

Our written workmanship guarantee covers sinking, rutting and movement caused by the base or laying. It does not cover oil staining or damage from skips and heavy plant.
